What sparked this? A project I worked on for one of my classes.
Do you know our family structure effects use more than we think? We know it plays a role in our lives, but it effects us more than you know.
In America alone there are 25 million children without fathers.
Those child have a 70% chance of being kicked out of high school and 10 times more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol.
And for every 1% increase in single mothers giving birth to children without a father, 1.7% increase in crime happens.
And the child is 5 times more likely to be in a poor household as adults than with children with two parents.
...I am one of those children...and it means to me, I'm a lucky one.
I get somewhat good grades in school, I never committed serious crimes [Like stealing]. I am almost always honest, and will admit my flaws.
But, I still have many problems. I have many problems with my family, I smoke, I have feelings to do hardcore drugs and to drink, I have had thoughts of suicide, I'm currently in therapy nearly every other week if I'm lucky, if I'm unlucky its once a month I go to therapy, I have a positive view on life by thinking negative things and methods that cause people pain, I hate being a human, I'm very easily depressed, I hate fighting, but my life is surrounded by it, I'm paranoid, and I have anger issues...an much more...
...and some how I'm a lucky....which makes me wonder, what about those who aren't lucky?
How much pain they must feel...and how much they suffer.
And this isn't just for fatherless children, children of divorce also go through much pain.
90% of Americans get married at least once, just think of how many remarry and divorce so easily.
How much their children suffer....how they feel like outcasts.
Every child whats that ideal family, two parents who love them and love each other.
The warmth and strength of a family... is something very precious these days.
Sorry, I guess this is kind of a vent for me, but most of this I took out of books that are a few years old, so the exact numbers may be different.
Got to go now, time to work.

I'm not a child with a single parent and I totally agree. I also think this for several other reasons.
